a walk in the wet

water flowing through the woods

a bright spot in the day

I couldn't stand being house bound a minute longer. So I put on my boots and took a walk.
Water was flowing in all the low spots, and the fields were soggy.

The neighbor's heifers followed along on their side of the fence, sometimes kicking up their heels, perhaps thinking I had feed somewhere for them.

Looking up I spotted an early rose lighting up the gray, rainy day.

You've got warmer, wetter climate down there. Things grow better and bloom earlier. No decent bloom would dare pretend to even be alive in this cold weather. No greenery, no flowers, nothing but shades of brown. It will probably be April here. I could be wrong.
