Coming up for air--gulp!
Never underestimate a hurricane/tropical storm! I am a veteran of some of the worst that have ever struck this country......and still Isaac threw some surprises-----mostly in the form of water and the amount of time that it lingered.
Actually my family fared well--just a few days without electric power --which meant no water or air conditioning for us--so I should not complain when others have lost everything.
The real fear came for neighbors when it was predicted a dam at the north end of our parish/county was in danger of breaking and adding huge amounts of water to the already swollen rivers and creeks.
So far the dam has held and water released from another side of the reservoir.
Various communities around southeast Louisiana were flooded and some people were marooned on tops of houses . Others died in their attics.
Some homes are still underwater, and many still without power--
I will never scoff at a category 1 hurricane again.
News of that dam even reached the UK but we haven't heard much else as other news stories have dominated the airwaves. Glad to hear that you fared relatively well and hope that life can soon get back to normal. Take care.
