The hard green pears are falling from the tree, assisted by the squirrels and raccoons that can't wait for them to ripen. Never soft flesh, but tasty, crunchy and sweet when ripe-- In the past we sliced them and made pear cobblers or pear pies--doesn't look like many will make it that far this year.
