Grand Canyon--North Rim

On this trip to the Grand Canyon we decided to try the north rim. The south rim is the one most celebrated and to which thousands of visitors flock every summer. There are more accommodations and resources for travelers on the south side, and though the south rim is only 10 miles across the canyon from the north rim, it took us most of a day to drive around the canyon.

We stayed in a log cabin that had no tv, internet, or air conditioning, and enjoyed it. The pace is slower and the visit is all about the outdoors--walking, observing, relaxing.

The Grand Lodge which sits on the edge of the canyon was rebuilt in 1937 after the first was destroyed by fire. We enjoyed breakfasts in the dining room which has great views of the canyon.

  1. Just popping in to say Hi (BB over at Codlins and Cream). What fabulous photos. I will have to pop in tomorrow and browse when my bed isn't yelling to me quite so loudly (still tired from the weekend).

Thanks for your comments on the blog, especially your most recent one. Perhaps the men in white coats aren't waiting outside after all!
