After the dinners are cooked, the presents unwrapped, and the house is still again, it's time to appreciate the poinsettia. It has been a long streak of cold, windy, overcast days. When the sun came through the dining room window for a few moments the poinsettia lit up from within and filled the bleak winter world with luminous color.
This the first Christmas I remember that no Poinsettia was present. Had I thought of it I would have bought one. For many years my wife's brother has sent her a poinsettia. He didn't this year and I only now thought of it.That splash of color was missing. I didn't even notice.

ReplyDeleteI always appreciate the poinsettia most in the winter days that follow Christmas. They seem especially bleak this year.
