Blue and white ware has always been a favorite of mine. When I first began housekeeping many years ago the only china I had was this blue willow set. The local discount grocery, Schwegmann's, had shelves of this pattern in "open stock". My mom and I took a grocery basket down the aisles and chose various pieces. The price of each piece was quite small. "Made in Japan" was stamped on the bottom of each one. After many years, I finally retired them because they had become cracked and crazed. The teapot, bowl and a large platter were added later, but they were made in China.
