From Southern Mexico and Brazil-- waxy green leaves and orange pouched flowers
Basically a house plant, but seems to be flourishing on my porch in spring and summer
Nun's Orchid (Phalus tankervilliae)

Named for its hooded flower, the flowerstalks can be 4 feet tall, and the leaves remind me of aspidistra. A native of China that can be planted in the ground in warm climates----the fragrance is delightful.
When viewed from above the tops of the flowers are white, but when I shot a photo from below the rich dark maroon and brown of the interior made it seem a different flower.
